Mental Health Awareness Mixer

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in the U.S. since 1949. Each May, it provides an opportunity to fight stigma, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support the millions of people affected by mental illness. A 2023 survey from the Mary Christie Institute found that 51% of young professionals reported needing help for emotional or mental health problems in the past year—with 43% screening positive for anxiety and 31% for depression.

aKrewe visited Fox 8 in New Orleans to discuss our curated event series that allows young professionals in the Greater New Orleans area to build a supportive community while encouraging each other’s personal and professional growth.

On Thursday, May 18, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, the organization will launch its first event in partnership with The New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA), emphasizing mental health and wellness among young professionals at Dream House Lounge, a mental and spiritual wellness venue in the CBD.
